Hubert Klumpner, along with his partner Alfredo Brillembourg, is Co-Founder and Director of the Architecture Firm Urban-Think Tank (U-TT) in Caracas, Sao Paulo and Zurich.
They hold the Chair for Architecture and Urban Design at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). Since 2013, Klumpner is the acting Dean of the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich. Starting in 2007 Klumpner and his partner Alfredo Brillembourg, has been associate
professor at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University NY, where they founded the Sustainable Living Urban Model Laboratory (S.L.U.M. Lab) and act as editors of the Slum-Lab Magazine.
As principles of U-TT, Klumpner and his partner have received numerous Awards and Prizes for their work for innovative design work, including the 2010 Ralph Erskine Award of the Royal Swedish Architects Association, the 2011 Holcim Gold Award for Latin America, the 2012 Holcim Global Silver Award for innovative contributions to sustainable and social design practices. U-TT was awarded the Golden Lion at the 13th International Exhibition of Architecture at the Biennale of Venice for their
installation, "Torre David / Gran Horizonte".
