Since this year, Mr Samol has joined GIZ in India as the Director of the new "Inclusive Cities Partnership Programme - ICPP" that aims to address the challenges of rapid urbanisation in India.
Frank Samol is an architect and urban planner with more than 30 years of practical experience in international development cooperation. He has profound working experience in the fields of sustainable urban development and local governance in different parts of the world. Through his extensive work with and for local authorities both in Europe and in other parts of the world, he is familiar with the challenges for local and regional governments in different countries and contexts.
For the past 6 years, Mr SAMOL has worked as team leader for two EU-funded regional programmes, the "CIUDAD programme (Cooperation in Urban Development and Dialogue)" that aimed to help local governments in 16 countries of the EU neighbourhood region enhance their capacity to plan for sustainable, integrated and long-term urban development, and the "Sustainable Urban Demonstration Projects Programme" covering 6 countries of the EU Eastern Partnership with a focus on improving energy efficiency, and reducing greenhouse emissions.
