Rajasthan and Lower Saxony agree on mutual cooperation at "Manufacturing in India" forum during the Hannover Messe 2015
Shri Gajendra Singh, Hon'ble Minister for Industries, DMIC, Sports, Youth Affairs, NRI & Public Enterprises - Government of Rajasthan and Mr. Olaf Lies, Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport of Lower Saxony gave the keynote speech at the Manufacturing in India forum. Mutual cooperation in the areas of Trade & Investment, Research & Development, University exchange programmes, skill development & smart cities were discussed between the two leaders.
The dialogue took place at an event organised by Indus Media at the Hannover Messe 2015, 'Manufacturing In India' forum. The high level panel discussion was moderated by Mr.Hermann Mühleck, Executive Director, Ernst & Young Germany. Highlighting the new initiatives of the Rajasthan Government Mr. Abhay Kumar, Commissioner of Industries & Secretary CSR, Government of Rajasthan, gave an overview of steps taken to facilitate ease of doing business in his states and emphasised on the role of states to support and participate in the "Make in India" campaign. Mr. R. Chandrashekhar, President, (NASSCOM) & Mr. Dietmar Goericke, Director, VDMA Forum Industry 4.0 opened up the discussion on how IT is changing the Manufacturing Landscape and what opportunities lay ahead for IT industry and specifically for the Indian IT industry.
The second panel saw industry representatives such as Mr. Debasis Nandi, Managing Director Lenze India, Mr. Frank Schlüter, Director, Developing Markets from Lenze SE and Mr. Jan Koepp, Head of Post Merger Integration Kion Group share their experience on setting up manufacturing and M&A activities in India. The Panel was presented by Mr. Sagar Shah, International Liaison Partner, from BDO India Private Limited. Starting with an overview of the changing political and regulatory framework of India, it went on to also discuss New developments on GTS & Retrospective taxes. The presentation of Mr. Bhavin Shah, CEO Khed City, gave valuable information to investors regarding setting up manufacturing in India and an overview of different industrial parks and what investors should consider when they are scouting for new locations and sites in India. The audience also took this opportunity to ask questions and share their personal experience of doing business in India.
While many topics were discussed and debated, one factor that was unanimously agreed upon was that India does provide great opportunities and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi things are moving in the right direction.

The 'Make in India' initiative announced in September 2014 is the flagship programme of the Indian government, designed to facilitate investment, foster innovation, enhance skill development, protect intellectual property and build best-in-class manufacturing infrastructure in the country. As part of this initiative, twenty-five sectors have been identified as priority sectors for attracting foreign collaboration and investments. This initiative will be further promoted among the German industry at the Hannover Messe, April 13-17, 2015, where India will be the Partner Country
The Government of India is building a pentagon of industrial corridors across the country to boost manufacturing and to project India as a global manufacturing destination of the world. The Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) is the first of its kind covering an overall length of 1,483 km and passing through the States of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra and the National Capital Region of Delhi, and will have 24 identified Industrial Areas and Investment Regions. The new cities coming up in DMIC are hoped to help in meeting with the pressures of urbanisation and also lead India's economic growth for the next 20 -30 years. The project aspires to double employment potential, triple industrial output and quadruple exports from the region in the next seven to nine years.
